To bring quality Indian goods to British homes.

Our founder Peter founded the business in 1996. After falling in love with India whilst out there on a family holiday earlier in the 90s, he had initially brought home a number of small goods to sell from a small shop-front. However, he quickly realised that the demand was there for the wholesale import of Indian goods. As a result, he moved from a small Devon-based shop to a big distribution warehouse, though still in Devon. Fast forward to today, 28 years later, and we are still providing traders with all manner of items from India. We deal directly with all our manufacturers in India. According to some of our customers they keep coming back as the products are unique and the service is the best they found in the industry!

What makes The Indian Connection unique? Our commitment to fill clients requests. We quite often get telephone calls and emails asking us if we can make weird and wonderful requests and believe it or not, regardless of how small the order is, we do find them and once we do they often become a regular stock item. We also are proud of the fact that we normally get all our orders out on a next day delivery. Our standard stock list is quite varied; we provide all manner of homeware items, as well as clothes and even bodycare goods. We are also a verified fairtrade business, believing a deft touch is as important with our clients as with our suppliers. We’re helping bridge the gap between Britain and India, and we want to build bridges with our manufacturers and clients too.

Credit commentary:
The director Stephen Martin is providing a personal guarantee, which means should the business fail and have insufficient assets within the business to repay the loan, we can look to the guarantor(s) to repay any shortfall on repayment. There have been no CCJs for the business or director. The Equifax score and grade, on which we base our assessment of risk, are based on the 2023 accounts. We have performed our assessment on recent financial information, including recent management accounts, which were not available to Equifax. Sales and and gross margin in 2023 were much improved resulting in an operating profit of £19,120 compared to last year’s figure and the net equity was £1,353. The bank statements demonstrate reasonable affordability, and the accounts remain well in credit.

Inflation risk:
As the majority of lending to the business is at a fixed rate, they will not be immediately affected by interest rate increases. The directors do not expect to draw money from the business as the funds will be used to stock purchase
