Since our launch 7 years ago, we have become an award-winning luxury cake brand. We’ve provided stunning cakes for events such as, the Queen’s Garden Party, Windsor Castle, and Buckingham Palace. We are also proud to have created cakes in collaboration with the Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay, and other celebrities. Our partners include Selfridges, Harrods Online, Amazon, and Not On The High Street. We are also the preferred specialty cake supplier to London hotels such as Claridge’s, The Four Seasons, The Lanesborough, The Connaught, The Savoy, The Stafford, The Goring, Bulgari Hotel London as well as Le Manoir in Oxford. Our cakes also can be admired in our showroom based in Mayfair.
GC Couture was founded by myself Marie Sinclair, and my partner, Sach Singh. It began when I was making cakes for friends and family in my kitchen and over time my hobby began to evolve into something more special, so I left my job as a graphic designer and became a baker full-time. My partner Sach has also been the force of our business, structure, strategy, and business development, and is also a huge part of why we are so successful in our endeavours.
We’ve had such an amazing journey with our Crowd2Fund community, and we are so proud that you have become a part of our success. We are now returning again for additional funding to raise our online presence for advertising for our online sales, as we have been focusing on selling our new product, the ‘Letterbox cakes’ as a response to COVID-19. Since going under lock-down, our online-channel has grown 30% month on month, and we believe now is the time to further fuel our digital sales.
COVID19 Resilience:
The business was impacted due to COVID-19 during 2020, however, they pivoted to online sales after developing luxury cakes that can be posted to clients at scale and with ease. They have developed a new online store that has seen significant month-on-month growth since launching in Q4 last year. The economy is expected to be unlocked over the next few months and it is expected that their offline business will return to pre-COVID19 levels. Our Revenue Loan product has given the business flexibility and is configured to be repaid within an estimated 36 months.
Credit Risk Comment:
This is a returning client with reliable repayment history. The directors are providing a personal guarantee, this means that if the business fails the director becomes personally liable for the loan. The director is a homeowner, this does not ensure there are assets to cover the loan in the event the business fails. There have been no CCJs for the business or director.
Crowd2Fund understands GC Couture very well and has done enhanced due diligence on the business for this loan. They have been a longstanding client that holds an A grade Equifax rating and has never missed a repayment. We understand there may be some hesitance because we have recently restructured their existing loans to suit their new business model, however full due diligence has been conducted and a fair 15% is offered given the level of risk.
