How should football be played, or any sport for that matter? With a smile! For too long, children are being put of the game due to poor coaching and non-engaging practices. The fun factor has been lost at the expense of children simply falling out of love with the game. Samba Soccer Schools are on a journey to bring back the beautiful game for children across London, thanks to some stylish Brazilian skills and tricks, a backdrop of Samba music and some top quality coaches.

Our soccer schools have a two-fold purpose. The first is football; to teach children how to play with the flair and freedom that epitomises the Brazilian game.
 The second is fun! By using our unique coaching methods as the vehicle, we aim to create outstanding footballing memories for children to treasure.

OUR HISTORY:

Samba Soccer Schools (SSS) was founded in 2009 by, London School of Economics graduate, Nilio Bagga. Over the years, Nilio developed two observations:

• A trend of commanding coaches who adopted an aggressive approach.
• The widespread use of dull and repetitive coaching curriculums.

It became apparent to Nilio that this style and method of coaching not only reduced a player's confidence, but also took away the fun from playing the game. Subsequently, Nilio developed a unique philosophy for SSS influenced by the work of coach John Wooden, who defined a coach as “someone who gives correction without causing resentment”. Our first priority is then to have a soccer school that prides itself on innovation and the development of children, and we guarantee you won't find anything else like it.

WHAT WE DO:

SSS teaches a very particular style of football. Most of our technical drills focus on showing children how to play with flair, skills and tricks, providing players with a complete understanding of ball mastery before entering small-sided games. Training is not of the standard type that players might experience elsewhere. Instead, it is enhanced with tricks and flair. This means that players coached in this way have greater potential of becoming both technically and tactically adept.

Moreover, we use samba music throughout our sessions. The music is synced according to the style of practice. For example, samba percussion is used for technical drills.

All SSS sessions involve the use of size 2 weighted footballs and traditional size 3 footballs to develop technical skills in children. These footballs help to develop skills like ball manipulation, control and tricks.

We have a range of programmes, taught throughout London, including:
• Streets of Brazil (Weekly Samba Soccer sessions following different cities of Brazil)
• One to One coaching
• Birthday Parties
• Skills Masterclass

KEY OBJECTIVES:

1. To develop further centres throughout London.
2. To expand our community impact – working with local councils and youth centres to help children from underprivileged areas.
3. To maintain high levels of training of coaches to ensure that children receive the best coaching.
