Welcome to High Flyers Nursery, where we care for children from 6 weeks up to 5 years old, located in Drumsagard Village. We are now looking for a loan to expand our childcare by adding space to our lovely nursery set in a spacious Victorian building.
High Flyers aims to make the best environment for children until 5 years of age in a safe and self promoting environment.
The High Flyers provides a homely atmosphere in a bright, attractive environment. The nursery has extensive outdoor areas which are used to promote the children’s all round development. The High Flyers nursery is a Community Interest Company, bringing social benefit to the local community and to all who will benefit from the adults that the children become.
Our promises to the children are as follows:
Provide a safe environment with resources which will interest and challenge each individual child enabling them to reach their full potential
Provide a balanced curriculum where children can learn through investigation and discovery while having fun
Treat each child as an individual, respecting their culture, beliefs, views and differences
Listen to children, taking their views into consideration and allowing their views to affect planning
Working in close partnership with parents to build trust and respect
Working in partnership with other agencies to ensure coherent care
Building close relationships with primary schools to ensure easy transitions
Ensure that the child is at the centre of everything we do
High Flyers Nursery accommodation comprises of three areas; the Baby Room, the 2 - 3 Room and the 3 - 5 Room.
The staff within the Baby Room recognise the importance of building relationships, having respect and being responsive in the care of our youngest children. Our aim is to extend the home atmosphere into the nursery and ensure that the children form positive relationships with staff. It is also our aim is to provide opportunities and resources which will encourage young children’s natural impulse to investigate their surroundings by using their senses. All experiences are planned in line with current guidance from Education Scotland - Pre-Birth to Three: Positive Outcomes for Scotland's Children and Families.
The Baby Room offers an open plan layout and caters for children from 6 weeks to 2 years. There is secure access to the outside terrace where our youngest children can experience outdoor play in a safe environment. The children also have access to the outdoor grassed play area.
The 2 - 3 Room is situated within a modern extension with sliding doors offering instant access on to our secure grassed play area. The staff within the 2 - 3 Room currently plan for experiences in line with guidance from Pre-Birth to Three: Positive Outcomes for Scotland's Children and Families. This guidance produced by Education Scotland (formerly Learning and Teaching Scotland) focuses on the importance of the earliest years in a child's life, from pregnancy until 36 months. The aim of this guidance is to promote positive outcomes and root out inequalities within society.
The 3 - 5 Room caters for children from 3 to 5 years. The nursery works in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council and is able to offer funding discount from the term after a child's third birthday (subject to availability).
The 3 - 5 Room operates a free flow system where children are free to choose their learning. Staff extend this learning by offering planned experiences, supplying suitable resources and being responsive to the children’s needs, taking children’s views and choices into consideration when planning topics.
The staff within the 3 - 5 Room plan for experiences to extend the children's learning in line with the Curriculum for Excellence document produced by the Scottish Government. This document emphasises the importance of Literacy and English, Numeracy and Mathematics, and Health and Wellbeing and the staff team embeds these outcomes through learning experiences and the everyday routine.
The Care Inspection 2016 of High Flyers Nursery were most recently inspected by Care Inspectorate in June 2016. We have now achieved the grade of 5 (very good) across all areas, together with glowing feedback and report from our inspector. We received no recommendations or requirements and the report highlights our commitment to providing the best quality of support and experiences possible for our children and families. The report can be read here:
