Founded by John Goodman Tchoudi, Sika'a is an ethically sourced, socially sustainable, luxury fashion e-commerce brand inspired by Africa. They create unique handmade garments, with the highest quality, authentic fabrics and deliver worldwide. They are seeking funds as they enter a phase of expansion.

Sika’a continues to shine a spotlight on the beauty of African fashion, making it more accessible in the Western culture. Our vision is to transform our already established label into a global African fashion house.

Sika'a is an online fashion store inspired by the beauty, tradition and culture of Africa. We combine textures, colours and patterns that celebrate the African form, transforming them into versatile silhouettes, from sweeping maxi dresses to flattering pencil skirts. These colours and patterns are as bold and vibrant as the African landscape itself, blending sunset oranges, vivid greens and azure blues in an array of floral and animal prints. We design beautiful clothes that complement spirit and strength.

I had a burning desire: to create unique handmade garments inspired by Africa, fashioned from authentic fabrics for the modern African woman. A name came instantly – Sika’a – God’s will in Bamileke, the language of my home in West Cameroon. And so the fashion house before you was born. I had a deep desire to change how the world views African fashion. Whilst working within the fashion industry, I noticed a gap in the market: luxury African fashion brands. I wanted to dispel the belief that luxury style is reserved for the west.

Our ethics are unshakeable and grounded in awareness and respect for the way we treat people and the planet. Our focus on ethical, socially sustainable fashion continues to strengthen the bond between our customers and our incredible team, who hand-stitch each garment. We are excited about this opportunity for expansion and look forward to this next phase of development.

Credit commentary:
The director is providing a personal guarantee, this means that if the business fails, the director becomes personally liable for the loan. The director is not a homeowner, which is outside credit policy. The mitigant for this credit policy exception is that sales have vastly improved, and the business is profitable and well established. There have been no CCJs for the business or director. In the 2020 and 2021 accounts, selling and distribution costs were £31,840 and £59,745 respectively. The admin expenses in 2020 and 2021 were £7,212 and £17,447. Other operating income was £10,000 in 2020 and £268 in 2021. The admin expenses in the 2020 to 2021 financial table below includes selling and distribution costs, as well as other operating income. The bank statements demonstrate reasonable affordability.

COVID-resilience:
Sika'a is an e-commerce business and has proven good resilience during the pandemic.
