Ruroc are looking to grow, with new product innovation and diversification, into other sports including Downhill Mountain Biking, Road Cycling and Air Sports. This revenue loan will fund new tooling and improve manufacturing efficiency â€“ whilst offering crowd funders 10% APR*.
Ruroc doesn't focus on what the competition is doing, their philosophy is to break down certifications and safety requirements and to build iconic and innovative products around their core foundations.
The RG-1, the flagship product and cornerstone of the Ruroc range, is patented with the Ruroc Aeroflow System. This system links goggle ventilation to the stealth vent channels within the helmet, creating a passive ventilation system that permanently prevents goggle fogging, without the use of electronics. It is certified for both European and US Alpine requirements having passed ASTM F2040 and EN1077b testing; the helmets are diligently tested on a regular basis to ensure the product maintains safety and design quality.
To advance Ruroc beyond a seasonal niche, they're looking for funding to expand the range and increase production efficiency. Step one in taking Ruroc to a year-round business will involve tooling for the newly developed patent-pending product, this is scheduled to begin in July, with a soft launch in early 2016 and a full launch in September 2016. The ultimate goal is to evolve the safety of head gear, moving away from the use of outdated materials such as Expanded Polystyrene and Polypropylene (EPS/EPP), with the ambition to use retained profits (from 2015/16) to begin research and development projects with Universities, such as the University of Birmingham, who are already working these areas.
Ruroc has forged a highly engaged and interactive social media following larger than any competitors in the helmet market, owing largely to its young, dynamic and internet savvy in-house staff. This interactivity has created brand ambassadors worldwide and now just 12% of sales come from the United Kingdom, with the USA (an Alpine helmet market worth $112m* alone) accounting for 60% of all of our B2C web sales.
