Innovative and sustainable architectural practices
We've been heavily involved in the sports and leisure sector, and were named 'Expert Advisor' in 1996 for the Sports Council Lottery Fund of England. We also operate in the commercial and residential industries, working on hotels, restaurants, offices, warehousing and health facilities, to name a few. We've built numerous leisure centres around the UK, the Millbay Marina, the Hounslow Travel Lodge and the multi-faith Maqam Centre - take a look on our website for our full portfolio.
Regulation and compliance is paramount to us. We're an ISO 9001 registered and RIBA Chartered practice, ensuring all of our employees comply with this quality management system. We're also ISO 14001 registered for environmental management, meaning sustainability is always at the forefront of our minds on each project we undertake. Creatively seeking solutions for low carbon emissions and support benchmark schemes like BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Our success is down to our investment in personnel and new technology, which has greatly improved our capabilities over the decades. Now operating on a national level, the funds will be raised to take on new contracts recruit more staff.
The business is continuing to operate (albeit with some restrictions) with all staff now mainly operating from home. Whilst some projects ie. where construction is ongoing have been affected, the majority of our fee income is derived from office based work. As such, particularly the newly acquired projects, progress is being maintained and thus fee income, although possibly slowed by third party restrictions eg Local Authority Planning and Building Control departments.
We are also taking advantage of Government loan assistance to further support cash flow from the effect of the current situation.
Where will the funds go?
A. As the business has grown over the last few years this has led to an increase in WIP. As this is valued at cost it means that a significant amount of profit from this work has yet to be realised which will improve profitability over coming years
A. We have recently been appointed on 4 new projects with fees likely to total between £150k and £1M for each project - over the next 1-3 years. This is in addition to 15 existing live projects with remaining fees from these totalling circa £2.5M
A. very dependant on how long the effects last. Currently we are working remotely and maintaining progress on a number of projects. Having recently been appointed on a number of exciting new projects which initially involve Planning and detailed design works we are hopefully that in the medium to long term the effects will be overcome.
