At the Coast is a nail and beauty salon in Edinburgh. Following their great success, they are now looking to expand with a new salon called Mac & Milan Hair and Makeup bar, which will be a full service salon, offering bespoke styling, from hair through to makeup.
Mac & Milan are aiming to bring bespoke treatment to Edinburghâ€™s Portobello High St. by combining all that a lady might want into one salon.

Convenience - offering their clients a range of services in one location with extended business hours.
The hair, makeup and brow specialists and the owner all already have a reputation for providing superior personal service with top quality products.
Furthermore, Mac & Milan will be selling a range of high quality hair and brow products, from brands such as L'OrÃ©al and HD Brows. They aim to gain a contract with L'OrÃ©al to use and sell their top quality products. In addition, they will have other name-branded products for sale to meet their clients' needs.
Their advertising strategy is simple: satisfied clients are their best marketing tool. Salons are places where clients spend in general a few hours, particularly with hair colouring and additional services offered. Mac & Milan is offering a service not yet available for everyone to enjoy and feel the best they can.
Mac & Milan will have two experienced hairdressers joining the team, each who will presumably bring at least 50 - 70% of their loyal clients with them. Good hairdressers are rare, as perhaps some of you may know, which highlights the importance of loyalty and word-of-mouth within this sector. They aim to target the 20 - 50 year old market, with the younger generation who will contribute to their growing Facebook and Instagram pages. Both social media sites are where most clients turn to for their inspiration in new looks and styles.
There will initially be two hair stylists employed, whereby one will be the salon's Manager. Two hairdressers will work at the salon on a self employed basis, each paying the salon £300 per week. They will also have a self employed makeup artist who will be paying the salon £200 per week, whilst working on a percentage basis. A nail technician will also be required on a self employed basis at £250 per week.
For busier Saturdays, a Saturday Junior will be employed to help with the menial tasks such as washing hair, etc. The owner, Julie De Gaetano, will be working at the Brow Bar.
Mac & Milan will be operating in strict guidance with the health and safety codes. The insurance that will be needed for the salon will be made through R & Q Commercial Risk Services Ltd via Gresham Underwriting Limited.
Julie De Gaetano - Owner
Julie has been a Beauty Therapist for 10 years. After studying at Mary Reid School of Beauty, Julie quickly developed the trade skills that have led to her success. Working from home for eight years, she built up a good client base, which led her to buy her current salon, At The Coast, which has been running successfully for two years now. Julie's responsibilities will include co-managing the overall daily routines of the business, working two days a week at the Brow Bar, and dealing with all human resource issues.
Davide De Gaetano - Co-owner
Davide has his own company, A & D Leisure Ltd, which has now been trading for 12 years. Davide has extensive experience in managing people and businesses. Mac & Milan will be operated as a partnership between Julie and Davide, her husband. Davide's responsibilities will be all of the business's financial matters.
Mac & Milan will open on the 1st October 2016. To begin, the salon will concentrate on marketing to new clientele. They expect to service approximately 50 customers per week for hairdressing, with an average of 5 customers per day between the two hair stylists. They are expecting that approximately 10 customers per week will use the nail bar, with approximately 16 customers per week requesting the makeup artist. They expect an average of 15 customers per week for the brow bar.
When the client base increases, they will expand the salon's capacities by adding another two hairstylists, one full time receptionist and another HD Brow Stylist. Mac & Milan Hair and Brow Bar will be organised and managed in a creative and innovative fashion to generate high levels of customer and employee satisfaction.
At the Coast Ltd will be backed by cross company guarantee from A & D Leisure Ltd.
