We teach anyone and everyone to cook professionally with our inspiring chef training programs that incorporate internationally recognised qualifications. With passion and devotion, we help our students reach the proficiency level they dreamt on. To continue our work, we are now looking for a loan to use as working capital.

The Ashburton Cookery School is one of the UK's top cookery schools offering inspirational cookery courses lead by professional chefs.

Our founder, Stella-West Harling, launched the Ashburton Cookery School to run organic, vegetarian cookery courses to small groups. In 2004, Chef Darrin Hosegrove was appointed Chef Director, responsible for course and teaching development, which led to us opening our first dedicated training kitchen built at 76 East Street in 2005. The Garden Kitchen is a wonderful retreat for up to 10 cookery students.

In 2007, we opened a new kitchen at 79 East Street for 8 students. However, its 2009 that sees us opening our purpose built facility at Old Exeter Road with world-class training kitchens and facilities. This led us to win accreditation by the confederation of tourism and hospitality, as well as being named Best English Cookery School and Best Large Cookery School Winner at the 2012 British Cookery School Awards.

Not one to slow down, we launched our Chefs Academy with our flagship 6 month Professional Culinary Diploma in 2012, which led us to win the best English Cookery School award and Best Large Cookery School Winner at the 2012 British Cookery School Awards and Cookery School of the Year at the Food & Travel Magazine Awards.

In 2013, our cookery school is accredited by the British Accreditation Council as a Short-Course Provider reporting that we 'provide an excellent professional environment for course participants and staff'. That same year, we were Named People's Choice Best Cookery School at the British Cookery School Awards 2013 and winner of Cookery School of the Year for the second year in a row at the prestigious Food & Travel Reader Awards. Continuing with our stellar performance, we were winners of the Western Morning News Small Business of the Year 2013.

A very busy year, 2013 also saw the relaunch our Buckland Kitchen at our East Street Campus for our 1 day and new half-day courses, with smaller group sizes of 8 students. Total capacity is now 60 students per day over 5 kitchens. We also add a new dimension to the Chefs Academy with exciting new Patisserie Certificates and Diploma. As such, 2014 saw us extend our campus with new dining rooms added to the training kitchens.

Our founder, Stella West-Harling, received an M.B.E. for services to hospitality in 2014, the same year her book 'A Cooks Book' is published. The year after, our 20 Week Diploma in Professional Patisserie was launched, becoming one of the highest practical qualifications available. Not one to stop helping our students after they leave, we become the first independent cookery school to offer finance on our cookery courses.

In 2015, we launched a new 4 week Certificate in Professional Cookery, in conjunction with announcing our plans to open a new campus in Halifax in West Yorkshire.

With our years of experience and over 40 cookery courses to choose from, designed to suit beginners as well as experienced home cooks we will teach you to cook with imagination, passion and enjoyment. If you want to take your cookery skills to the next level we have a cookery course for you.

We are now looking to secure funding to continue our growth and train the future chefs and patissiers of the future.
